چکیده

This study presents biodegradation of benzoic acid (BA) and anthranilic acid (AA) by Micrococcus sp. under aerobic conditions. Initial concentrations of BA and AA were varied (500-2500 mg/l) and almost complete biodegradation of BA and AA was observed within 30 h. Andrews kinetic model for single substrate was fitted to obtain maximum specific growth rates, half saturation and substrate inhibition constants. Cell growth with degrading BA (μ m,BA = 0.645 h) was faster than with degrading AA (μ m,AA = 0.63 h). Under biodegradation of BA and AA, first order rate constant values decreased with increase in initial concentration.

Biodegradation of cypermethrin by immobilized cells of Micrococcus sp. strain CPN 1

Pyrethroid pesticide cypermethrin is a environmental pollutant because of its widespread use, toxicity and persistence. Biodegradation of such chemicals by microorganisms may provide an cost-effective method for their detoxification. We have investigated the degradation of cypermethrin by immobilized cells of Micrococcus sp. strain CPN 1 in various matrices such as, polyurethane foam (PUF), pol...

Towards efficient crude oil degradation by a mixed bacterial consortium.

A laboratory study was undertaken to assess the optimal conditions for biodegradation of Bombay High (BH) crude oil. Among 130 oil degrading bacterial cultures isolated from oil contaminated soil samples, Micrococcus sp. GS2-22, Corynebacterium sp. GS5-66, Flavobacterium sp. DS5-73, Bacillus sp. DS6-86 and Pseudomonas sp. DS10-129 were selected for the study based on the efficiency of crude oil...

Dehalogenation and biodegradation of brominated phenols and benzoic acids under iron-reducing, sulfidogenic, and methanogenic conditions.

The anaerobic biodegradation of monobrominated phenols and benzoic acids by microorganisms enriched from marine and estuarine sediments was determined in the presence of different electron acceptors [i.e., Fe(III), SO4(2-), or HCO3-]. Under all conditions tested, the bromophenol isomers were utilized without a lengthy lag period whereas the bromobenzoate isomers were utilized only after a lag p...

Biodegradation potential of petroleum hydrocarbons by bacteria and mixed bacterial consortium isolated from contaminated sites

The aim of this study was to isolate, characterize, and evaluate the potential of petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC)-degrading bacterial strains from oil-contaminated soil in the Meerut region. Among 59 oil-degrading bacterial cultures isolated from the oil-contaminated soil samples, 1 Bacillus species, 2 species of Pseudomonas, and 1 species of Micrococcus, identified on the basis of biochemical and ...

Fischer indolisation of N-(α-ketoacyl)anthranilic acids into 2-(indol-2-carboxamido)benzoic acids and 2-indolyl-3,1-benzoxazin-4-ones and their NMR study.

N-(α-ketoacyl)anthranilic acids reacted with phenylhydrazinium chloride in boiling acetic acid to afford 2-(indol-2-carboxamido)benzoic acids in good to excellent yields and 2-indolyl-3,1-benzoxazin-4-ones as by-products. The formation of the latter products could easily be suppressed by a hydrolytic workup. Alternatively, by increasing the reaction temperature and/or time, 2-indolyl-3,1-benzox...
